There once was a kicker named Akers,
the leader of long field goal makers.
He put on a show
Week One at Lambeau.
His 63 yards? Record breakers.
Dave Akers once had a bad day,
as an Eagle versus Green Bay.
With two playoff misses,
he earned goodbye kisses
and settled in San Fran to play.
But Eagles fans, many a whiner,
still claim they’ve seen no player finer
than the kicking machine
who once wore midnight green
and now makes history as a ‘Niner.

There once was a pitcher named Joe
on the best rotation in the show.
He’s often passed by
in the spotlight’s eye,
but, man, that Joe Blanton can throw.
He came to Philly from the A’s,
a number-one guy in those days.
Traded in ’08,
he changed Philly’s fate,
helping reverse its losing ways.
Blanton became the team’s last piece
in making its title drought cease.
He did not lose a game
in that year of great fame.
His legend, in playoffs, increased.

No Wing Bowl vet has eaten more
than Philly’s own ‘El Wingador.’
He munched home five titles
as one of the idols
the Philly fans love rooting for.
